The paper presents the results of studying the effect of a complex nanomodifier on the properties of the improved 40CrNi3MoV steel. A complex modifier of the INSTEEL class that includes Ca, Ba, Ti, Nb and REM, was used as a modifier. The ingot modifier was pre-crushed to the powder state of 30-100 μm fraction. The resulting nanomodifier was clad with aluminum foil and introduced into the furnace together with the charge. Strength, hardness, relative elongation, impact toughness and wear resistance were estimated on the obtained samples. The results showed that as a result of nanomodification, the elemental composition of the steel remained virtually unchanged and met the requirements of the standard. As a result of nanomodification, hardness, strength and wear resistance of steel increased. The simplicity of introducing the nanomodifier and its low consumption allow considering this method as one of the universal options for increasing the strength properties of heat treatable steels.
